Data commonly is stored in various types of Media. These databases are a result of the need for certain business processes and are generated by software applications governing the business processes. A need for Data migration may arise due to multiple business requirements and would warrant a specific method of migration.
The methods could be database migration viz. moving from one database to another to facilitate certain business needs. There may be a requirement of changing the media used for storage which could cause a need for data migration.
